MISSION: To restore the value of music as a powerful cultural force and viable profession by advocating for fair compensation, enhanced music standards, and digital ownership. To upgrade the standard for music recordings, performance, composition, songwriting, and producing. We support music, its evolution, and music artists. Our mission is to prevent the further de-evaluation of music in all its forms, digital and analog.
Music Matters Appreciation Society (MMAS) advocates for the Music Fairness and Acknowledgement Act and fair and equitable royalties, wages, concert performances, and recordings for music artists, musicians, composers, songwriters, and producers.
Music Matters Appreciation Society (MMAS) proposes a public digital recording embedded code. Each purchase gets a unique code of high value similar to digital NFT’s (a collectable digital recording.) We propose that all MMAS members and all music artists have a digital ID code, both public and music artists. This will be a 10-20 digit code similar to ISRC code. This code will be a double purpose code. 1. For the MA (Music Artist/Creator) to track and record all transactions. 2. This second level code will be a unique identifier for the personal public purchase of each recording download or physical product deeming it a high-value collectable. This MMAS code will control and track all transactions of music recordings and performances.
WHO WE ARE: MMAS is a nonprofit alliance of music artists, producers, fans, and supporters fighting against the devaluation of music caused by free and low- priced streaming models. We believe music is both a science and an art—a sacred, transformative force that must be preserved, respected, and treasured.
WHY WE EXIST:
• MMAS is for music artists, musicians, music fans, and producers.
• MMAS is a non-profit organization for fans, contributors, appreciators, and supporters.
• We advocate for fair and enhanced wages.
- Streaming has led to financial instability for music creators.
- Music has become background noise instead of a valued art form.
- Artists earn pennies per stream, often below minimum wage.
OUR SOLUTION:
• Support for the Music Fairness and Acknowledgement Act
• Introduction of a Public Digital Recording Embedded Code, like an NFT, to make every purchase collectible and traceable.
• Each music creator and fan receives a unique MMAS digital ID to track transactions and ensure artist compensation.
OUR BELIEFS:
1. Music is both a science and an art—a high-value expression.
2. All sound and life operate through frequency. So does music.
3. Music impacts mood, memory, emotion, and community.
4. Music creators deserve to be fairly paid and celebrated.
5. Music is one of the higher aspects of human creative expression.
JOIN US: Whether you’re a fan, artist, collector, or supporter, MMAS is your platform to help restore fairness and creativity to the heart of music culture.

Antonio “Tony” Newton Launches the Music Matters Appreciation Society to Combat the Devaluation of Music and Restore Fairness to Artists
[Los Angeles, CA – 2025] – Renowned Funk, Rock, Fusion bassist, producer, and Motown legend Antonio “Tony” Newton has announced the launch of the Music Matters Appreciation Society (MMAS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring the value of music and defending the rights of music creators worldwide.
In response to decades of declining artist compensation due to the rise of streaming and digital distribution, MMAS has been founded as a movement for fair pay, digital ownership, and elevated music standards. The Society is also known as the Anti-Music Devaluation League, with a clear mission: to end the exploitation of musicians and reestablish music as one of the highest forms of creative human expression.
“Music is both a science and an art, a sacred force that shapes our emotions, memories, and world,” says Newton. “MMAS gives us a path forward to respect the craft, honor the artists, and empower the fans.”
Key Initiatives Include:
• The Music Fairness and Acknowledgement Act
• A revolutionary Digital ID & Recording Code System to track, secure, and assign collectible value to digital and physical music purchases
• Support networks for artists, producers, and fans who believe in music as a force of healing and cultural power
MMAS invites fans, collectors, musicians, and music professionals to join the movement and take action.
